Meet the Board
With your help, this is the team that has agreed to lead our community.
Kim Montoya (Term end 2025)
President
Don and Kim have lived in Tyrone since April 2021. They have lived in Grant County for 29 years (Don is actually a homeboy).
Between 1999 and 2002, Kim was the president of the Rosedale Water Association. They lived out that way for about 26 years. During her tenure, she made some changes with the Board’s blessing - from converting them to computer-based accounting to upgrading their meter reader practices. She also served on the parish board for St. Francis Newman Center twice. She was the practice manager, financial manager, human resources person, and HIPAA compliance officer for her husband’s medical practice. Kim has a BA in English.
Kim is a team player and believes it is important to be involved and try to motivate others to get involved in the community. It’s going to take time and energy to build a strong TCA.
Kim's motto: There is always hope!
Gena Roberts (Term end 2027)
Treasurer
Gena Roberts is originally from El Paso, Texas, and went to school at Arizona State. She has always had an affinity for New Mexico and was thrilled when her husband Mike agreed that Silver City was the perfect retirement destination. She is delighted to have found the Tyrone community.
Gena has 30 years of office administrative experience ranging from bookkeeping to IT, and is currently still working from home for her Houston employer that she's been with for over 15 years.
Gena believes the new Board should strive to represent the entire community. Open communication and transparency from a "business" perspective are paramount.
Diana Mason (Term end 2027)
Vice President
Long-time resident, Diana Mason brings her insight from "what it was" to help us dream of "what it could be".
Diana has a Masters degree in education from WNMU and is a born helper.
Zachary Hurlbut (Term end 2026)
Secretary
Zach Hurlbut works at the Tryone mine. He says he is the "last person to volunteer." That appears to be true as he waited to see if anyone else would step up before throwing in his hat to join the team.
Zach represents our younger families and gives us a fresh perspective.
Vacant (Term end 2025)
Board Member
Please consider volunteering to be on the Board.
